About

Platonas Theocharis, Clinical Dietitian–Paediatric Nutritionist, RD, MSc

My name is Platonas Theocharis and I am a Clinical Dietitian–Paediatric Nutritionist, a graduate of the International Hellenic University and holder of an MSc in Clinical Paediatric Nutrition from the University of Essex.

My aim is to help children, parents and adults bring good nutrition into their lives in a way that is realistic, evidence-based and sustainable — without punishing diets, guilt and endless cycles of restriction and abandonment.

I offer online sessions in Greece and abroad, as well as home visits in Thessaloniki. Many of the people I work with are Greeks living and working abroad, or professionals with demanding schedules, who need an approach that adapts to the real conditions of their lives.

Scientific background and research experience

Throughout my academic and professional path I have focused particularly on clinical and paediatric nutrition, eating behaviour, body composition and the relationship between nutrition and cognitive function.

As a research assistant at Alzheimer Hellas I took part in studies on nutrition, cognitive function and quality of life in people living with dementia.

My undergraduate research focused on sarcopenia and phase angle, while my master's thesis studied parental feeding practices and their role in developing eating autonomy and self-regulation in children.

I also take part as an external collaborator in a clinical study running at Papageorgiou Hospital, in cooperation with the pharmaceutical company PHARMASERVE–LILLY. Taking part in clinical research keeps me in continuous contact with current scientific knowledge and its application in real care settings.

Nutrition support in the workplace

Through my collaboration with Fitness in Greece I take part in corporate wellbeing and employee nutrition programmes at large organisations, including Olympic Brewery and Stoiximan.

Through this work I support employees with demanding schedules, heavy professional commitments and limited time. My approach focuses on practical meal organisation, steadier energy levels through the day and habits that can genuinely be applied in a modern working environment.

That experience has shown me that a nutrition programme must not assume a "perfect day". It has to adapt to working hours, commuting, family commitments and the real needs of each person.

My philosophy

Nutrition is not simply a programme you follow for a few weeks. It is a life skill built gradually.

For that reason I do not stop at writing a nutrition plan. My aim is to help you understand your body's needs better, organise your eating with greater autonomy and develop a more balanced relationship with food.

Through nutrition education and a mindful approach, you learn to use food as an ally — not as punishment, reward or one more source of anxiety.

Part of that education is understanding, in simple and evidence-based terms, how brain biochemistry, the reward system, the hormonal mechanisms of appetite, sleep and stress can influence hunger, fullness and eating behaviour. This knowledge is not used to create new fears or strict rules, but to strengthen your awareness and autonomy.

In paediatric and family nutrition I place particular emphasis on developing children's eating autonomy and on creating a positive family environment around food, without pressure, guilt or unnecessary conflict.

Continuous scientific development

I am a member of the Hellenic Dietetic Association and take part regularly in continuing professional education. Nutrition science keeps evolving, and I consider it essential that the way I support each person evolves with it.

A personal invitation

If you are tired of starting and abandoning nutrition programmes, if you are looking for support adapted to your real daily life, or if you want you and your family to build a healthier, more balanced relationship with food, you are in the right place.
